Liverpool got what they needed. This Sunday they beat Norwich City at Anfield Road and advanced to the round of 16 of the FA Cup. Thus, they remain the only team in England still competing in four different tournaments in the season, as they are finalists in the Carabao Cup, are in the round of 16 of the UEFA Europa League and, obviously, are at the top of the Premier League standings.

"I will sleep better", Guardiola's joke shows his respect for Klopp

While it was clear that The Reds were the favorites this Sunday against The Canaries, it was an unknown how the team would react after receiving the shocking news of Jurgen Klopp's departure after the end of the season. In fact, the coach himself revealed that, when he communicated his decision to the squad, several players could not help but shed some tears.

Against this backdrop, the team's performance was satisfactory. They controlled the ball for most of the match and created several opportunities to score. In fact, they netted the opener 16 minutes into the first half thanks to a header by Curtis Jones. Later Darwin Nunez also scored a goal and in the second half Diogo Jota, Virgil Van Dijk and Ryan Gravenberch increased the lead.

However, Liverpool also showed an unusual defensive weakness. Just a few minutes after Jones' opener, Ben Gibson netted the leveller after a corner kick. And after the break, when the game was 4-1, a defensive error allowed Spanish striker Borja Sainz to score the visitors' second goal. This must surely have worried Klopp, because if a lower quality team like Norwich City can cause them these problems, against stronger opponents the consequences can be serious.

What's next for them?

In just three days Liverpool will have another key match: on Wednesday they will face Chelsea in the 22nd round of the Premier League, with the need to get a victory that will allow them to stay at the top of the standings. And next Sunday they will have to visit Arsenal, another of the teams competing for the title this season.
