Coach Mauricio Pochettino revealed what his team is missing.

Chelsea have a virtually new team compared to last season's 12th-place finish in the Premier League standings. The failure forced owner Todd Boehly to hire a new coach, Mauricio Pochettino, and together they have rebuilt the squad.

Gone are stars like Mateo Kovacic, N'Golo Kanté, Kai Havertz, Kalidou Koulibaly, Joao Felix and Kepa Arrizabalaga. And they have spent more than $430 million during this transfer window to add Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia, Christopher Nkunku, Axel Disasi, Nicolas Jackson, Lesley Ugochukwu, Robert Sanchez and Angelo.

However, this is not enough for Pochettino. The manager assured in a press conference that he is still not satisfied with the squad and revealed what they are missing: "We need at least one goalkeeper and one offensive player," said the Argentine. This is due to the departure of Kepa to Real Madrid and the unexpected injury of Nkunku, who will be a long time off the field.

And Chelsea acted quickly to fulfill the coach's wishes, as minutes after Pochettino said this, they announced the signing of a striker: Deivid Washington. The 18-year-old Brazilian player made his debut this year at Santos and surprised everyone with his talent. There he scored 2 goals in 15 games, which caught the attention of several clubs in Europe. The Blues paid almost $20 million for him and signed him a contract for 7 seasons, with an option to extend it for one more.

They are close to agreeing the arrival of another player

In addition to a striker, Pochettino said he needed a goalkeeper. And he could soon have one. According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the one targeted is Đorđe Petrović, player of New England Revolution of Major League Soccer. Chelsea are willing to pay almost $20 million for the 23-year-old Serbian player.
