The English side want the striker to leave, but they have conditions.

Chelsea have already accepted that the purchase of Romelu Lukaku from Inter in 2021 for more than $100 million was a failure. The striker had shone in Italy, where he was a key player for the Nerazzurri in winning the Serie A title, but he could not repeat those performances in the Premier League and after a mediocre season he was loaned back to Inter.

Now he has returned to London and Mauricio Pochettino has decided not to consider him for his team. That is why they intend to get rid of him. The problem is that the offers that have arrived so far do not satisfy their wishes. The Blues know that the investment went wrong and they will not get back the $100 million they paid 2 years ago, but the question is how much they are willing to lose.

According to The Sun, Juventus made an offer to Chelsea to take Lukaku on loan for the 2023/24 season, with an option to buy once the tournament ends. This did not satisfy the English side, who rejected it as they had already done with a similar bid from Inter.

The Blues want to sell the player right now and are looking to receive at least $43 million for him. Juventus are not willing to pay that much money, but they will not give up. The plan is to wait a few weeks, for the end of the transfer window to approach and for the English side to lower their demands as they see that they do not have many alternatives. Lukaku's high salary, almost $20 million a year, is one of the reasons why Chelsea want to get rid of him.

Poch prefers others

The Blues coach will not consider the Belgian striker as he has other players in that position. This summer, Frenchman Christopher Nkunku arrived from RB Leipzig and Spaniard Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal.
