Chelsea could pay more than $150 million for a striker that shines at Italian league

The London side need top players and money is not an issue.

The London side need top players and money is not an issue.

Chelsea are the club that have spent the most money this year. Between the winter and summer transfer windows, they invested a fortune to sign players to help raise the level of the team. In January they paid $110 million for Mijailo Mudryk and broke the record for the most expensive purchase in Premier League history with Enzo Fernandez, who cost $132 million.

Not satisfied with this, in the summer they broke the record again and paid $146 million for Moises Caicedo. In addition, they signed other stars such as Christopher Nkunku, Nicolas Jackson, Romeo Lavia, Robert Sanchez and Cole Palmer. But the results have not been as expected and the team's performance was disappointing.

That is why owner Todd Boehly is already thinking about next year's signings. According to The Telegraph, the striker he wants to sign is Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian player shone with Napoli last season, with 31 goals in 39 games, and was key for them to win the Serie A title. However, this season his level has not been so good (6 goals in 11 games) and he has been in conflict with the club's chiefs.

But for Chelsea it will not be an easy negotiation, as Napoli's president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, has assured on more than one occasion that he will only let Osimhen go in exchange for a fortune. In fact, reports indicate that he will ask for well over $100 million. This means that the Blues will probably have to break, once again, their record and surpass the almost $150 million they paid for Caicedo.

Coach needs goals

One of Chelsea's problems this season is the low number of goals they have scored: just 22 in 13 Premier League games. Nicolas Jackson is the squad's main striker, but coach Mauricio Pochettino is eagerly awaiting the return of Christopher Nkunku, who arrived this summer but has yet to make his debut due to a knee injury suffered during preseason.
