Barcelona is preparing for the 2023/2424 season with the aim of returning to prominence in European football. Despite conquering La Liga with great superiority, the Catalan club knows that their true challenge is the Champions League, and they are working to reinforce their squad with quality players.
Among the names strongly linked to Barcelona is the talented German midfielder Ilkay Gündogan, who was recently crowned a Champions League winner with Manchester City. Although negotiations are not yet closed, Barcelona's interest in acquiring Gündogan is evident.
According to information from the Spanish newspaper Sport, Barcelona would be willing to offer Gündogan a three-year contract. While the 32-year-old player has not given his definitive response yet, the club has already taken concrete steps to formalize his signing, demonstrating their interest in securing the player as soon as possible.
The newspaper also mentions that Gündogan is still under contract with Manchester City, but it is expected that he will soon be released. The salary conditions offered to him by Barcelona would be similar to what he currently has with his club, which has expedited the negotiations and motivated Barcelona to take swift action to secure his transfer.
Although it is claimed that Gündogan has a verbal agreement with Barcelona, Manchester City is still trying to convince their captain to renew with the team, as Guardiola considers him a key piece within the squad.
