According to Sky Germany, Matthijs de Ligt of Bayern Munich, aged 24, is reportedly discontent with his current situation at the Rekordmeister, having slipped down the pecking order behind Kim Min-jae and Dayot Upamecano.

The Dutch defender has seen limited action, accumulating just 365 minutes in nine Bundesliga fixtures this season, with six additional league games missed due to injury. Manager Thomas Tuchel seems to favor the defensive partnership of Upamecano and Kim, leaving De Ligt seeking more playing time. The club's recruitment efforts are also underway to secure the services of Paris Saint-Germain's Nordi Mukiele, following an unsuccessful pursuit of Radu Drăgușin, who opted for a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

Although De Ligt is reluctant to part ways with Bayern Munich in the upcoming winter transfer window, there is a growing possibility of a summer departure if his playing situation does not see improvement. The likelihood of a departure may increase, especially if Bayern secures a new defender, with their interest currently focused on Barcelona's Ronald Araújo.

Matthijs de Ligt, once a standout talent for Ajax, rose through the ranks, initially gaining prominence before making significant moves to Juventus and now Bayern Munich. Eager to make a greater impact, De Ligt is determined to secure a more prominent role in first-team football this time around, aiming to build on his earlier successes and contribute substantially to his current club.

Manchester United monitor

Manchester United is closely monitoring De Ligt's predicament, and as per Sky reports, the Dutchman could become a target for the English club. Erik ten Hag, who previously coached De Ligt at Ajax from 2017 to 2019, has expressed interest in bringing his former player to Manchester United if De Ligt's situation remains unchanged beyond the summer transfer window. The prospect of a reunion between player and coach at a new club adds an intriguing layer to the unfolding narrative surrounding Matthijs de Ligt's future in the football transfer landscape.
