Bad news for Mo.

Liverpool are the leaders of the Premier League standings with two points ahead of Manchester City and Arsenal, and this Sunday they will face Bournemouth aiming to win in order to keep the leadership of the tournament. But right now one of the main concerns of boss Jurgen Klopp is the large number of players absent for the next game.

Several stars are recovering from various injuries, such as Andrew Robertson, Konstantinos Tsimikas, Joel Matip and Thiago Alcantara, while others are away with their respective national teams. Wataru Endo was called up by Japan for the Asia Cup, while Mohamed Salah is with Egypt in Côte d'Ivoire, participating in the Africa Cup of Nations.

The winger is the biggest star of The Reds and his departure was a hard blow for them. But even worse was the news coming from Ivory Coast this week: last Thursday he had to be replaced during half-time in the 2-2 draw against Ghana due to a physical problem. This worried the Egyptians, as they are in the middle of the tournament and need 'Mo', but also the English side.

Now the Egyptian FA revealed details of Salah's injury. He is suffering from hamstring strain and that is why he will not be able to play the next two matches of his national team in the Africa Cup of Nations. Next Monday they will face Cape Verde for the third and final match in Group B. With two draws in their first two games, Egypt need a win to advance to the knock-out stages. But even if they manage to do so, 'Mo', who might not be fit to play in the quarterfinals, will not be able to play in the round of 16.

Although they won't admit it publicly, everyone in Liverpool must be hoping that Egypt are eliminated in the Africa Cup of Nations so that Mohamed Salah returns to England as soon as possible. The Reds have several important games coming up, including the second leg of the Carabao Cup semifinals against Fulham next Wednesday in London.
