A lot will change at Manchester United in the coming months. The arrival of Sir Jim Ratcliffe as the new owner has that objective, as the businessman will be in charge of making decisions related to soccer and will try to recover the glory of the club that during the last decade seems to have been lost.
One of the first changes will be the renewal of the squad. Many players have arrived in recent years and have not shown satisfactory performances, so they will be leaving in the short term. In fact, two have already left since 2024 started: Donny Van De Beek was loaned to Eintracht Frankfurt until the end of the season, while Sergio Reguilon's loan was interrupted and he returned to Tottenham six months earlier than initially agreed.
Many others will follow suit next summer, but that won't be all. Top players will also be arriving to help improve the squad. According to The Standard, one of the first targeted by the new chiefs is Michael Olise. The Crystal Palace forward is having a great 2023/24 season, with 5 goals and an assist in 9 Premier League games.
The 22-year-old forward came close to leaving the Eagles last summer, when Chelsea tried to sign him. Boss Mauricio Pochettino was interested in having him in his squad. However, he eventually stayed and even raised his level. In fact, in August he signed a new contract with the London club for four more years.
According to The Sun, Michael Olise's new contract with Crystal Palace includes an exit clause that comes into effect at the end of this season. The value is unknown for now, although it is undoubtedly higher than the $44 million established in his previous contract with the club. According to the specialized website Transfermarkt, the market value of the forwad is currently $54 million.
