Liverpool's goal this Wednesday is to get a win at Anfield Road against Fulham and go with that advantage to Craven Cottage in two weeks, when they will play the second leg of the Carabao Cup semifinals. Coach Jurgen Klopp knows that it is key to win at home so that the pressure in the next game is on the rivals.

In addition, it will allow them to concentrate on the upcoming Premier League matches. There The Reds are leaders in the standings with 45 points and have a short lead over Aston Villa (42) and Manchester City (40). But the Citizens have a game in hand against Brentford and could reach 43, so they cannot relax.

However, things are not going as Klopp had hoped. During the first minutes of the game, the visitors were motivated and carried out manager Marco Silva's plan excellently. They were able to nullify Liverpool's strengths and create some chances to score.

After 19 minutes, Fulham took advantage of an absurd mistake by their opponents and scored the opener. The Reds had a throw in near their own box, but Joe Gomez lacked accuracy and the ball was stolen by the Cottagers. Then Virgil Van Dijk couldn't prevent Andreas Pereira from entering the box and sending a drilled cross that Willian received. The Brazilian winger dribbled a defender and scored the goal with a strong right foot shot that goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher could not save.

The coach must not be satisfied

Liverpool's performance during the first half was far from expectations. Therefore, Jürgen Klopp may decide to make changes after the break to raise the team's level. The substitutes are Alisson, Jarell Quansah, Beck, Nyoni, Clark, Gordon, James McConnell, Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez.
