With Argentina, Messi could face the same rivals he faced with Inter Miami

The world champions had problems with the international break matches in March.

Leo is ready yo begin the season.

Things have not gone well for Lionel Messi during the preseason with Inter Miami. They played several friendly matches before the start of Major League Soccer and the performances they showed were far from expectations. The proof of this are the results: they barely won one game (against an all-star team from the Hong Kong league), drew three and lost three.

But that was not all. They also suffered injuries to several players of the squad. Facundo Farias was the one who received the worst news, as he tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee and will be out of action for at least six months. In addition, Benjamin Cremaschi had to undergo surgery for a hernia, while Sergio Busquets had an ankle problem.

Messi also suffered physical problems. During the match against Al-Hilal in the Riyadh Season Cup, he had to be substituted due to a muscular discomfort that later prevented him from playing in Hong Kong. This caused the anger of the fans and the organizers of the event, who were forced to refund part of the value of the tickets. And the consequences were even worse, as the anger of the fans led to the suspension of the matches that the Argentine National Team was to play in China during the international break in March.

With this scenario, the Argentine Football Association is working to reschedule those friendly matches and, apparently, move them to the United States. Nigeria would be one of the world champions' opponents, while the other would be El Salvador. Interestingly, the latter are the same opponents Messi faced with Inter Miami at the start of the preseason, when they drew 0-0 at the Cuscatlan Stadium.

When and where will they play?

According to reports, Argentina's first friendly in the United States will be on March 18 against El Salvador, while the second will be on March 26 against Nigeria. Although the venues have not yet been confirmed, they will apparently be on the East Coast. Washington DC and Orlando seem to be the most likely options.
