Real Madrid have this Wednesday a great opportunity in La Liga. They are facing Real Mallorca at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium and they know that, if they get a win, they will stay at the top of the standings in the tournament. And not only that. They will also transfer the pressure to Girona, who have the same amount of points as them and a few hours later will have a very difficult match against Atlético Madrid.
With that goal in mind, coach Carlo Ancelotti decided to include in the starting lineup all the stars of the squad, except for those who are recovering from their respective injuries, such as Eduardo Camavinga. That is why Vinicius Junior is on the field, after recovering earlier than expected from the muscle problem he suffered in November with the Brazil National Team.
The winger is playing his first official match in two months and, although he struggled to get into the rhythm of the match, when he did he showed all his quality. He had several opportunities to score, but in the first ones he lacked precision and missed. However, 38 minutes into the first half, 'Vini' took the ball near the opponent's box, eluded Samu with a subtle touch and shot powerfully with his right foot, forcing a great save from goalkeeper Predrag Rajkovic.
The visitors also had their chances, especially in the final minutes. First Antonio Sanchez, with a header that hit the crossbar, allowing Andriy Lunin to take the ball before it crossed the line. And moments later Cyle Larin had another chance after a corner kick, with a shot that went just wide of the post.
Real Madrid's performance during the first half was far from expectations. That's why Carlo Ancelotti is likely to make changes after the break. The substitutes are Kepa Arrizabalaga, Francisco Gonzalez, Alvaro Carrillo, Lucas Vazquez, Dani Ceballos, Brahim Diaz, Arda Guler, Nicolas Paz and Joselu.
