The 'new Maradona' who could leave Italy's Serie A to join Barcelona

This winger has been compared to the Argentine legend for several reasons.

They want to sign him.

Barcelona have not had a good 2023/24 season. They were aiming to compete for as many titles as possible and improve their performance of the previous year, in which they had been champions of La Liga and the Spanish Super Cup. But the opposite happened: the team's level worsened and they fell far short of those goals. In the Spanish league they are eight points off the top of the standings, lost the Super Cup final against Real Madrid and were eliminated in the quarterfinals of the Copa del Rey by Athletic Bilbao.

That leaves them with only one tournament this season: the Champions League. There they advanced to the round of 16 after topping Group H and will face Napoli this Wednesday in the first leg. The Italian side have also had many problems this season, after the departure of coach Luciano Spaletti, and are far from the level they showed last year that allowed them to become Serie A champions.

In the duels against Napoli, Barcelona will not only be looking to qualify for the quarterfinals, but will also take the opportunity to watch one of the stars of the rival team: Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. The Georgian winger surprised everyone last season with his talent and earned the respect and admiration of the fans, who even compared him to Diego Armando Maradona for his importance in the Serie A title.

Those performances turned 'Kvara' into a player coveted by the world's top clubs. According to Mundo Deportivo, Los Blaugranas consider him one of the most interesting players in Europe and could make an attempt to sign him next summer, considering that Joao Felix is on loan and there is still no agreement with Atlético Madrid for him.

How much is he worth?

At only 23 years old, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has proven to be one of the most talented wingers in Europe and that is why his value has increased a lot during the last months. According to the website Transfermarkt, he is worth $86 million, an unattainable figure for Barcelona right now, considering the serious financial problems they have been facing for years.
