The Dutch manager knew what he had to say.

This Tuesday Manchester United got an unforgettable victory against Aston Villa at Old Trafford. They were losing 2-0 in the first half and their rivals were becoming the new leaders of the Premier League table along with Liverpool. Things were looking very difficult for them and manager Erik Ten Hag seemed to be coming to the end of his time at the club.

However, in the second half the Red Devils' attitude and performance changed completely. They became dominant in the match, quickly regaining the ball whenever The Villans had it and then attacking with great conviction. Thus came the goals of Alejandro Garnacho that allowed them to equalize the score. And later Rasmus Hojlund grabbed the winner with his first Premier League goal.

The victory allowed Manchester United to end a 3-match winless streak in the English league (4 considering all competitions) and to give joy to the fans, who were dissatisfied with the performances shown by the team and the results obtained in the last weeks.

After the game, coach Ten Hag held a press conference and revealed the magic words he said to the players during halftime to motivate them to win the game: "Keep believing". That simple message was enough for the team to react and regain their self-confidence. Then the Dutch manager added: "I think our fans they deserved it. They are always behind us and we've had so many setbacks. So I'm really pleased from the performance of the team".

He trusts the players

Ten Hag then highlighted the team's mental strength: "What kind of team can handle and deal with the amount of setbacks we have had? They are resilient, they have showed character and their personality to turn it around. I am very pleased with the performance of this team".
