Man Utd scored the leveller vs Forest, but made a rookie mistake and it cost them dearly

The Red Devils were getting a point at the City Ground until the last minutes.

Gibbs-White grabbed the winner for Forest.

Manchester United again failed at a decisive moment. They had achieved a key victory last week against Aston Villa: when they were 2-0 down and things were complicated, they reacted in the second half and completed the comeback with goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund. That allowed them to get closer to the top of the standings, but they needed to win again this Saturday vs Nottingham Forest to confirm their improvement.

It was supposed to be an ideal opportunity for The Red Devils, as their opponents were one of the weakest teams in the Premier League and were dangerously close to the relegation zone. However, it was not an easy match at all.

The hosts made a great effort to nullify Manchester United's virtues, and they succeeded for most of the match. And not only that. They also had the conviction and imagination to create dangerous chances in the opponent's box. Nineteen minutes into the second half Forest netted the opener: Gonzalo Montiel received the ball inside the box and assisted Nicolas Dominguez, who shot smoothly with his right foot and made Andre Onana's reaction impossible.

A few minutes later goalkeeper Matt Turner made an absurd mistake with the ball at his feet and allowed Alejandro Garnacho to assist Marcus Rashford for the leveller. The 1-1 draw was a prize for The Red Devils, who had not been performing well and found the goal near the end whistle. But incredibly they let that chance slip away, as moments later Morgan Gibbs-White again scored for Nottingham Forest.

The coach is in trouble

Every defeat for Manchester United complicates Erik Ten Hag's situation more and more. The joys for the victories they get are short-lived, as they have problems to sustain the good performances. That is why the criticism of the coach is increasingly harsh and many believe that with the arrival of the new owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe there may be changes.
