Ever since Kylian Mbappé broke his nose in the France vs Austria match, many fans have been impatient to find out when the French star could play another game. He was given a protective mask to protect his nose during training sessions, and he is expected to wear it for the rest of the EUROS. He did not play in the game against the Netherlands a couple of days ago, and today, they will play their final game of the group stage against Poland. Despite reports suggesting that he won't play the group stage match against the Netherlands and Poland, he is now likely able to get minutes against the Polish team. As the game he may play is against Poland, Mbappé will be given a gift by a Polish company. A Polish company prepared a "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" mask for Mbappé, and Marcin Bułka will deliver it to him before or after the game today. Mateusz Pawlik is the owner of the company, and he said, "I think his masks don't fit properly to the face and don't protect him enough. We can do it better; we have the highest quality certifications. We use motorsport carbon and bulletproof vest material to absorb the impact energy."
Mbappé is often compared to a turtle, and even his own teammates have made fun of him about the joke. This is likely not allowed for Mbappé to wear at the EUROS, but many fans could expect to see him wear it at a training session to keep the joke alive. The French star doesn't seem to have a problem with the joke as he played around with the fans, asking them what mask he should wear on his X account.
French reports suggest that not only will Mbappé play in the game against Poland, but he will start. Mbappé was not subbed on by Didier Deschamps int he game against the Netherlands in their second match of the group stage. RMC Sport is the French outlet that reports that Mbappé will start against Poland. A French player has yet to score in the EUROS. In the 1-0 win against Austria, France scored due to an own goal by Austria center-back Maximilian Wober. France created clear chances against the Netherlands, but it ended 0-0.
Without even paying a single minute against Poland, France is guaranteed to play in the Round of 16 of the EUROS after yesterday's result between Croatia and Italy. The game ended 1-1, which means Croatia finished third in their group with two points. France is second in their group, and even if they lose against Poland, they will secure a spot in the next round if they finish third because they will have four points, which is the most of any 3rd place team in every group so far.
