Erling and Jude are at the top of the list.

For more than a decade world soccer was dominated by two players: Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. They were the best players of this century and faced each other in memorable duels when Leo shone in Barcelona and CR7 did the same in Manchester United or Real Madrid. But time goes by and they are getting closer and closer to the end of their professional careers, so other players are competing for the throne.

When in October this year Messi won his eighth Ballon d'Or, in his thank you speech he named who he believes will be the new stars of soccer. The players highlighted by Leo were Kylian Mbappé, Erling Haaland and Vinicius Junior, among others. And apparently he wasn't wrong, as they are some of those leading the ranking of the most expensive players in the world right now.

According to the specialized website Transfermarkt, at the top of the list are three players whose value is almost $200 million: Jude Bellingham, Kylian Mbappé and Erling Haaland. All of them are between 20 and 25 years old, so they can still grow much more. The French striker this summer could change clubs, as his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires and there are giants interested in signing him. The Norwegian player was very close to become the top scorer of 2023. While Jude is the youngest in the list and last semester he grew a lot thanks to his transfer to Real Madrid.

Two wingers complete the top-five: Real Madrid's Vinicius Junior ($164 million) and Arsenal's Bukayo Saka ($131 million). Then there are seven other players who share a value of $120 million: Lautaro Martinez (Inter), Harry Kane (Bayern Munich), Jamal Musiala (Bayern Munich), Victor Osimhen (Napoli), Rodri (Manchester City), Phil Foden (Manchester City) and Declan Rice (Arsenal).

Who will be the next stars?

Further down the ranking are several young players who will surely become top stars in a short time, such as Florian Wirtz, Pedri, Eduardo Camavinga and Xavi Simons.
