How Mbappé's arrival at Real Madrid could destroy his biggest dream

The French striker has a goal for this year, but it could be difficult to achieve.

Bad news for him.

Kylian Mbappé is at a crucial moment in his professional career. He has just over five months left on his contract with Paris Saint-Germain and, should he not agree to renew his contract soon, at the end of the season he will become a free agent and will be free to leave for any other club without even paying a cent to the French side.

This is the reason why Mbappé might choose PSG over Real Madrid and Liverpool

This would be the beginning of a completely different era for 'Kiki', as he has always played in France. His debut was at AS Monaco in 2015, when he was just 16 years old, and two seasons later he was transferred to PSG in exchange for more than $180 million. But now his options seem to be Liverpool and Real Madrid. No doubt the Premier League and La Liga will be attractive targets for him, but in 2024 he has something else in mind.

On more than one occasion he assured that this year he intends to be part of the French National Team at the Olympic Games in Paris. There each team must have a squad made up of players under 23 years old, but they can include three exceptions and Kylian is willing to be one of them.

The problem is that this tournament is not an official FIFA competition and therefore clubs are not obliged to allow players to participate. Should he continue at Paris Saint-Germain, it is clear that he will have no problems. But if he goes to Liverpool or Real Madrid things could be very different. The Olympic Games will take place between July 26 and August 11, when European clubs will be doing their preseason and even starting their participation in official tournaments.

Coach has doubts

Thierry Henry, coach of the France U-23 national team, gave an interview to AFP and was asked if he will call up Kylian Mbappé for the Olympic Games. His answer was not very cautious: "Let's say I want a player and his current club accepts. If he is transferred in the summer, who's to say his new club will want to loan him out? I don't know where he will end up, but the club will have something to say. I haven't contacted him yet".
