Spain's top teams have a chance to win their first title of the year this week. In Saudi Arabia they are playing the Spanish Super Cup, the tournament that brings together the top four clubs of last season. This Wednesday Real Madrid took the first step and beat Atletico Madrid 5-3 in the semifinals, in a memorable match full of goals, twists in the scoreboard and controversial situations.

The second semifinal will be played this Thursday at the Al-Awwal Stadium in Riyadh. Barcelona and Osasuna will meet there. Los Blaugranas reached this tournament as the last champions of La Liga, while Los Rojillos were finalists of the Copa del Rey and lost against Real Madrid the decisive game.

Although they have yet to play the match, Barcelona are confident that they will be able to demonstrate their superiority over their rivals and are already thinking about the final against Los Merengues. This was proved on Wednesday, with an unexpected decision made by coach Xavi Hernandez.

According to the newspaper AS, the manager sent three of his assistants to "spy" on Real Madrid during the match against Atlético Madrid. David Prats, Toni Lobo and Sergio Garcia were at the stadium analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of Ancelotti's team to be prepared in case they face them in the decisive match of the Super Cup, which will be played next Sunday.

The Culés don't want it to happen again

This season Barcelona had problems with Real Madrid. In the 11th round of La Liga, they lost 2-1 in the 'Clasico' at Montjuic, a defeat that cost them dearly because since then they have not been able to catch them in the tournament standings. Now they want to correct that mistake and win the title in Saudi Arabia.
