Manchester United's manager is in trouble after the Carabao Cup elimination.

Things can't get any worse for Manchester United. Last Sunday they lost 3-0 at Old Trafford against Manchester City, a defeat that caused harsh criticism to coach Erik Ten Hag. And this Wednesday the result was repeated, this time against Newcastle in the round of 16 of the Carabao Cup.

The Red Devils were eliminated from one of the tournaments of the season, so now they must focus on Premier League (where they are 11 points behind leaders Tottenham), Champions League (they have lost two of their first three matches) and FA Cup.

Miguel Almiron scored the opener 28 minutes into the first half, when he received an assist from Valentino Livramento, beat Diogo Dalot to the ball and shot with his left foot. Moments later, Lewis Hall netted the second goal: the left-back took a rebound near the box and with a strong shot left goalkeeper André Onana with no chance to react. And that was not all, as in the second half Joe Willock scored the 3-0 with a beautiful shot from outside the penalty box.

The result is a hard blow for Manchester United, who were already in trouble before the game. The fans lost patience with Erik Ten Hag, but the chiefs have a concern. If they decide to sack him, they will have to pay him the full amount of his contract, which expires on June 30, 2025. This means it would cost the English side almost $20 million to sack Ten Hag.

They enjoyed it

The only ones who were happy in the stands at Old Trafford were the Newcastle fans, who not only enjoyed their team's victory, but also mocked their rivals. One of the songs they chanted said: "Old Trafford is falling down, Ten Hag is a f... clown, Glazers staying 10 more years, Geordie Boys are on the beers". And the other, also dedicated to the coach: "You're getting sacked in the morning". Meanwhile, the TV cameras showed Ten Hag's face, which was not happy at all.
