Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are both determinant players on their teams

Lionel Messi is one of the most outstanding players of recent times. Together with Cristiano Ronaldo, they gave way to what we know today as modern soccer. A sport full of sponsorships, millionaire contracts, emotions, controversies and all kinds of circumstances that make it a sport without a doubt extremely interesting and with many updates week after week with the best leagues in the world.

Both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo took different steps in their careers. For years, they shone in La Liga making the Spanish championship the main point of interest for soccer fans. If before Messi and Ronaldo there was already a strong rivalry with Real Madrid, both came to increase that rivalry even more. In addition, despite having a strong rivalry, the two remained the best players for years having practically no competition.

A couple of years later, the Argentine signed with Inter Miami of MLS while Cristiano Ronaldo signed with Al Nassr of the Saudi Pro League. Even this year marked the first year without the presence of Messi and Cristiano in the UEFA Champions League. Now, with the two triumphing away from the spotlight of Europe, football seems to be introducing the new talents of the soccer world.

On the other hand, Lionel Messi suffered an injury that has kept him away from the pitch for approximately three games. According to national and international media, the Argentine could miss the entire remaining regular season. In turn, The Herons want to qualify for the wild card round of the MLS to seek a place in the playoffs. Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo has already added one more achievement in Saudi Arabia
