The Argentine forward had offers from the most important clubs in the world, but he made a choice.

Lionel Messi is perhaps the greatest soccer player of all time. For almost two decades he has enamored fans around the world with his goals, assists and dribbles, and has been part of some of the best teams in history, such as Pep Guardiola's Barcelona between 2008 and 2012 and Lionel Scaloni's Argentina national team. This also earned him the recognition of the press, which has chosen him as a Ballon d'Or winner eight times, and of his peers.

Therefore, it is not surprising that the most important clubs in the world have been interested in signing him for years. While he was at Barcelona, the chances were minimal, as Leo always assured that Catalonia was his place in the world. But everything changed in the summer of 2021, when Los Blaugranas announced that they could not renew the Argentine forward's contract due to their serious financial problems.

At that moment, newspapers, TV shows and social media were flooded with rumors and speculations about Messi's future. Manchester City, Inter, Manchester United and even Real Madrid were mentioned as possible destinations, but he finally decided to join Paris Saint-Germain to reunite with old friends like Angel Di Maria, Leandro Paredes and Neymar Jr.

Now, however, details of an unknown negotiation with other European giants AC Milan have been revealed. In an interview with PoretCast, the club's former sporting director Paolo Maldini assured: "When I read that Messi could sign for Inter I was furious, so for 10 days I tried to bring him to Milan".

What happened?

Despite Maldini's desire to sign Lionel Messi, things did not turn out as he had hoped. On this, he explained: "I wanted him. He is a wonderful player. We tried hard for 10 days, but then we understood that it was simply impossible for us".
