The Reds were losing 1-0 against Leicester City, but in the second half they shone.

Liverpool made it through to the Carabao Cup round of 16. For that they had to work hard, as Leicester City showed that, despite being a Championship team, they have enough talent and defensive solidity to be tough opponents. In fact, at the beginning of the match they surprised everyone and netted the opener through Kasey McAteer.

In the first half The Reds could not show a great level. Moreover, in the few opportunities they had to score the equaliser, they failed. The most important was a header by Cody Gakpo, but defender Conor Coady cleared the ball off the line. At that moment, it seemed like they were missing Mohamed Salah, who was not even on the bench.

However, things changed after the break. Three minutes into the second half, Gakpo got his revenge and this time he didn't miss: he received a great assist from Ryan Gravenberch, turned inside the box and shot with his right foot to score the equaliser.

Then came two beautiful goals that allowed Liverpool to secure the victory. On 25 minutes, Dominik Szoboszlai, who had come on earlier to replace Ben Doak, received the ball and shot from well outside the penalty box. The ball went into the top corner and was impossible for goalkeeper Jakub Stolarczyk to save. And in the last minute, Quansah set up Diogo Jota, who did brilliantly inside the box.

No time to relax

With the 3-1 victory against Leicester City, Liverpool qualified to the round of 16 of the Carabao Cup. Now they have no time to rest, as they must think about their next matches. On Saturday they will have a very difficult Premier League match against Tottenham in London. Five days later they will face Royale Union Saint-Gilloise at Anfield Road, for the second match of Group E of the UEFA Europa League. And on Sunday, October 8, they will play against Brighton & Hove Albion.
