Aston Villa's player is winning the duel against Manchester City's striker.

One of the most interesting matches in this week's Premier League is Aston Villa vs Manchester City. The Villans have had a great start to the season and that allowed them to reach fourth place in the standings with 29 points, beating giants like Manchester United and Chelsea. In addition, they are achieving something that would be historic: they are in the qualification zone for the Champions League 2024/25.

The Citizens' situation is different. They were the leaders of the tournament until two weeks ago, but the three draws in a row, against Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham, made them lose that place and now they are third. That's why they need to get a win at Villa Park on Wednesday.

However, so far they are not getting it. During the first half, both teams showed an even level and failed to impose their style. There were plenty of chances to score in both boxes, but the strikers lacked accuracy and the goalkeepers are very focused.

That is precisely what happened in the duel between Emiliano 'Dibu' Martinez and Erling Haaland. The Aston Villa player was elected as the best goalkeeper in the world, both in The Best and the Ballon d'Or awards, for his great performances with his club and with the Argentine National Team. While the Norwegian striker is considered by most specialists as the best centre-forward in the world right now.

What happened between them?

Ten minutes into the first half, the two stars had their first duel at Villa Park. Erling Haaland received a great assist from Phil Foden, entered the box and shot with his left foot, but Emiliano Martinez saved it. The ball was then caught by Bernardo Silva, who sent a floated cross to Haaland. Again the striker had the chance to score, now with a header, but again the goalkeeper reacted in time.
