The forward is showing good performances at Getafe and that has aroused the interest of other clubs.

Mason Greenwood returned to play official matches this season after more than a year and a half. He had been suspended by decision of Manchester United's chiefs in January 2022, following a allegation from his girlfriend for domestic violence. Although the charges were dropped, the English side decided not to reinstate him in the squad to avoid the disapproval of the fans.

That is why he was loaned for a season to Getafe. There he made his debut on September 17, in his team's 3-2 victory over Osasuna. Since then he has played 5 games in the Spanish side, scored one goal and provided one assist. Week by week his performances have improved and he is getting closer and closer to the level he showed in his best days with the Red Devils.

According to reports, Mason is very happy in Spain and his wish is that Getafe agree with Manchester United his definitive transfer. However, this will be difficult. The English team are still paying most of his high salary, which is almost impossible for the Spaniards to afford. And in addition, in order to agree a transfer The Red Devils will pretend to receive money in exchange for his sale.

With this scenario, another Spanish club are interested in Greenwood. According to The Mirror, Sevilla are preparing to start talks with Manchester United to sign the forward. Unlike Getafe, they have more money to negotiate a buyout and to take over his salary.

They have different objectives

Getafe is a humble team in Spain that does not usually compete to win titles. But Sevilla are more powerful. Last season they won the UEFA Europa League and qualified for the Champions League. Now they are in group B together with Arsenal, Lens and PSV Eindhoven.
