The Three Lions will play this Tuesday at Wembley and Gareth Southgate made a decision.

The English National Team had a free day last week and played a friendly match against Australia in London, in which they won 1-0 thanks to Ollie Watkins' goal. There, coach Gareth Southgate had the opportunity to put together a starting lineup with players who do not usually play in the team, with the aim of testing them and allowing them to gain experience in international matches.

However, this Tuesday at Wembley Stadium things will be different. They will play a decisive match against Italy for the Euro 2024 qualifiers. The Three Lions are the sole leaders of Group C with 13 points, 3 more than the Italians and Ukraine. Therefore, if they get at least a draw in this match, they will secure their place in the most important international tournament on the continent, which will be held next summer in Germany.

The importance of the clash against Italy will lead Southgate to change most of the XI compared to the match against Australia. The squad's main stars, such as Harry Kane, John Stones, Phil Foden, Declan Rice, Kyle Walker and Marcus Rashford, were rested on Friday and will now be part of the squad.

Moreover, as the players called up by the coach for the October international break were 25 and in UEFA matches up to 23 are allowed in each squad, Southgate is obliged to drop two of them. And he has decided that they will be two stars of important European teams: Arsenal and AC Milan.

Who are they?

Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah will be one of them. He made his debut for England last Friday against Australia, when he came on in the second half for Ollie Watkins, who had scored the goal. And the AC Milan player is Fikayo Tomori. The defender has earned four caps with The Three Lions, but this time he will not be part of the squad.
