Jose Mourinho is doing a great job at AS Roma. Since his arrival in 2021, he has managed the Italian side to win the 2021/22 Conference League title and reach the final of the 2022/23 UEFA Europa League, where they lost on penalties against Sevilla. Now they will start a new season with the aim of improving their performances and results and compete to win more titles.
To do so, they have kept their main stars, such as Paulo Dybala, Lorenzo Pellegrini and Andrea Bellotti, and have added top players such as Leandro Paredes, Renato Sanches, Evan Ndicka, Houssem Aouar, Rasmus Kristensen and Sardar Azmoun. In addition, Romelu Lukaku, who will arrive on loan from Chelsea, is expected to be officially announced on Wednesday.
But that's not all. Mou still wants to add at least one more defender and the target is a Real Madrid and Spanish National Team star: Sergio Ramos. According to La Gazzetta, the Portuguese coach has targeted him as a possible signing for his team, as he knows him well and is confident that he can be useful. Both shared 2 years at La Casa Blanca, between 2010 and 2013, and won 3 titles. Ramos shone for 15 years at Real Madrid and played the last two seasons at PSG, where he had a great relationship with Lionel Messi.
However, Marca newspaper reports that AS Roma chiefs deny that there have been negotiations with Ramos. Moreover, there is less and less time left to reach an agreement: on September 1 at 23:59 the transfer window will close and there will be no more chances to add him.
AS Roma are not the only ones interested in signing Sergio Ramos. Reports indicate that Galatasaray has a good chance to sign him, since they will play Champions League and that is a challenge that motivates the defender. In addition, Al-Ittihad of Saudi Arabia are also interested in him, although they have not yet reached an agreement on the duration of the contract: the player wants 3 years and the club is offering 2.
