The defender will stay at the English side until June 2026.

Pep Guardiola must be calm now. One of the main concerns of the coach during this summer was the situation of some players of the squad who received offers from other clubs and were close to leaving. Bernardo Silva was targeted by Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona, and reports indicated that he had intentions of moving to Spain. And Kyle Walker was tempted by Bayern Munich, who needed a replacement for Benjamin Pavard.

In the end both stayed and were part of the team in the first Premier League games. And not only that. The Citizens agreed with the English defender to renew his contract, which was due to expire in 2024. Now his contract will run until June 30, 2026, so Guardiola can rest easy knowing that one of his best players is not leaving anywhere.

But what caught the most attention was the way Manchester City chose to announce Walker's contract renewal: they published a video on social media parodying the 2013 movie 'The Wolf of Wall Street', directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Leonardo DiCaprio.

In one of the most famous scenes of the movie, Jordan Belfort (the character played by DiCaprio) takes the microphone and announces in front of his employees that he has decided to reject the agreement he had with the FBI and that he will stay with the company, which is celebrated by all. In the Manchester City video, Kyle Walker takes DiCaprio's place and announces "I'm not leaving. The show goes on. This is my home," as some of his teammates, including Bernardo Silva, Phil Foden and Jack Grealish, jump for joy and hug each other.

He is one of the stars of the team

Walker has been at Manchester City since 2017, when he arrived from Tottenham. Since then he has played 260 games there, scored 6 goals and has been a key player in winning 15 titles, including 5 Premier Leagues and a Champions League.
