Several European giants are interested in this midfielder.

With just a month and a half left until the end of the year, that means a new transfer window is near. Clubs in Europe's top leagues will have the opportunity to sign a few players during January to strengthen the areas of the pitch where managers believe their squads are lacking.

Manchester United are no exception. They have had inconsistent performances over the last few months and coach Erik Ten Hag has claimed on more than one occasion that the reason for this is the injuries suffered by several key players. In fact, almost all the signings they made during the last transfer window had physical problems: Mason Mount, Sofyan Amrabat, Rasmus Hojlund, Sergio Reguilon and Johnny Evans. And to them we must add other stars such as Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw and Casemiro.

That's why Ten Hag wants to add players in 2024. And, according to journalist Fabrice Hawkins, the target is Youssouf Fofana. The French midfielder has shone at AS Monaco since 2020, when he arrived from RC Strasbourg for $16 million. Since then he has played 141 games and scored 3 goals.

However, it will not be an easy negotiation for The Red Devils. Fofana is one of the stars of AS Monaco and has a contract there until June 30, 2025. According to the specialized website Transfermarkt, his market value is $27 million. Moreover, the English side are not the only ones interested in signing him. Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus have also targeted him and will compete with them to convince the player and the club.

The coach has had many problems

One of the sectors of the field in which Manchester United has suffered the most injuries is the midfield, particularly the holding midfielder position. This summer Erik Ten Hag asked to sign Sofyan Amrabat, whom he knew from coaching him at Utretch. But the Moroccan player is not yet at 100% fitness. And Casemiro suffered two consecutive muscle injuries that prevented him from playing in several key matches.
