Modric is playing less and less at Real Madrid and this is what he said about that

For more than a decade Luka Modric was the undisputed owner of Real Madrid's midfield. Since his arrival from Tottenham in 2012, he became increasingly important for the team and played a leading role in the successes Los Merengues achieved in recent years, especially the 5 Champions League titles they won. This made him worthy of Real Madrid's historic 10 jersey, as well as the affection of the fans and the recognition of his colleagues and coaches from all over the world. However, at the start of this season his situation has changed. Coach Carlo Ancelotti has chosen other younger players like Federico Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga, Aurélien Tchouaméni and Jude Bellingham, so Luka has been on the bench more than usual.

Now, while he is with the Croatian National Team, he gave a press conference and talked about this topic: "This is a new situation for me. It's true that I don't play as much as I used to, not as much as I would like to. I always want to play, I don't want a vacation. This way I feel better and I prepare myself better for the matches".

And then he added: "This situation may have some advantages for the future but I want to play every three days if necessary. This is a normal, natural process and I accept it and I have to prepare myself mentally and move on. I feel good physically and motivated, I feel good, full of energy; otherwise I could hardly lead Croatia as captain."

He has a mission

Luka Modric has his sights set on helping the Croatia national team secure qualification for Euro 2024. For now he is achieving it, but the task is not easy: in group D they are in second place in the table with 10 points, 3 less than the leaders Turkey and 3 more than Armenia and Wales. The latter will be their next opponents, this Sunday in Cardiff.
