The Saudi Arabian side wants to raise the level of the team.

Al-Hilal have been one of the clubs that generated the most surprise this summer for the impressive offers they have made to try to convince soccer stars to join the Pro League, with the aim of competing with Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr and Karim Benzema's Al-Ittihad, the latest title winners.

They first went after Lionel Messi when it was announced that he would not continue at Paris Saint-Germain, willing to pay him a salary of $400 million per year. After the Argentine forward's decision to go to Inter Miami, they targeted another player from the French side, Kylian Mbappé. In the midst of the conflict with Nasser Al-Khelaifi, they understood that they could perhaps take him for more than $700 million. The answer, again, was negative.

And now they are interested in a striker who plays in Serie A. According to Il Mattino, Al-Hilal chiefs contacted Aurelio De Laurentiis, Napoli president, to start negotiations for Victor Osimhen. The 24-year-old Nigerian player is the Italian side's top star and was a key player in winning the 2022/23 Serie A title. There he scored 31 goals in 39 games.

The Pro League side offered $130 million to sign Osimhen, but Napoli rejected the bid as insufficient. According to reports, De Laurentiis will not agree to sell him for less than $200 million, although perhaps the player's insistence could change his mind if an offer comes in from a club that is attractive to him.

Those who said yes

Al-Hilal already has several top players who this summer accepted the multi-million dollar salaries the side are willing to pay: defender Kalidou Koulibaly, midfielders Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Ruben Neves and winger Malcom. However, they are still short of a striker and will do everything they can to get him.
