Every year since 1994, the Union of Professional Footballers of France awards the Ligue 1 prizes, and this year was no exception. Once the season ended, in which Paris Saint-Germain once again emerged as the champions, the award ceremony took place.
The recipient of the Best Player in France award was Kylian Mbappé, who received the prize from Didier Deschamps, whom the forward knows well as his coach in the French national team. With this award, Mbappé became the first player to win it four times.
This is the fourth consecutive time that Kylian Mbappé wins this award, as he won it in 2019, 2021, 2022, and now also in 2023. It is worth noting that the award ceremony was not held in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Prior to Mbappé, the player with the most awards was Zlatan Ibrahimovic with three.
In his acceptance speech, he gave a nod that excites PSG fans, stating that he is very happy to play for the team and adding that he will continue with the Parisian club for the next season. This effectively puts an end to all the rumors of his possible departure in the summer.
Furthermore, he took the opportunity to congratulate Racing Club de Lens, who finished in second place on the table, but he also mentioned Lionel Messi. Here's what he said, “I would like to congratulate Lens for having an excellent season. Also, Jonathan David and Leo, who helped me a lot. It is a privilege to play with players like them at PSG.”
