Mbappé must be happy, PSG received the most awaited news before this Friday's game

The French side will face Montpellier at the Parc des Princes.

Paris Saint-Germain have shown irregular performances during this season. In Ligue 1 they struggled in more than one game, even with Kylian Mbappé on the pitch, and that's why after 10 games they are not the leaders of the Ligue 1 standings. This is unusual, as in the last decade they have dominated the French league, winning most of the titles.

And in the Champions League they have not had an easy task either. While they won both matches they played at the Parc des Princes, against Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan, they suffered a heavy defeat in England, 4-1 against Newcastle. However, for now they are in the qualification zone for the round of 16 of the tournament.

This Friday, the Parisian side will open the 11th matchday of Ligue 1. At the Parc des Princes they will face Montpellier, who are currently in 8th place in the standings. It will be a good opportunity for PSG, as if they get a victory they will be, at least until Sunday, the only leaders of the tournament.

Coach Luis Enrique received good news this week: Marco Asensio is fit to return and could be part of the squad to face Montpellier. The striker had suffered a muscle injury on September 8, when he was playing with the Spanish national team in a Euro 2024 qualifier against Georgia. Although it was initially thought that he would be able to return in just a few weeks, his recovery was slower than expected and it took him two months to return.

What will the coach do?

Marco Asensio trained with his teammates this week, but is unlikely to be part of PSG's XI for this Friday's match. Luis Enrique will not take risks with him and, best case scenario, will include him on the bench. The team's forwards will probably be Ousmane Dembélé, Randal Kolo Muani and Kylian Mbappé.
