Mbappé continues to make history in football and now seeks to break a new record

Kylian Mbappé has left an indelible mark on Ligue 1 by becoming the top scorer in the competition for the fifth time. Since his outstanding 2018-2019 season, where he scored 33 goals and clinched the top scorer title for the first time, the young forward has not let go of that accolade. In the 2019-20, 2020-21, and 2021-22 seasons, Mbappé continued to showcase his goal-scoring prowess by registering 18, 27, and 28 goals respectively.

In the recently concluded season, Alexandre Lacazette, in his return to Olympique Lyonnais, tried to dethrone Mbappé. However, the PSG player did not diminish his intensity and managed to score 29 goals, two more than his closest competitor.

With this fifth crown as the top scorer in Ligue 1, Mbappé equals the historical record shared by three other outstanding footballers,  Delio Onnis, Carlos Bianchi, and Jean-Pierre Papin. It is worth noting that both Mbappé and Papin achieved this feat consecutively.

Now, the challenge for Kylian Mbappé in the upcoming edition of Ligue 1 will be to break the tie and claim the record for himself. With his talent and thirst for triumph, the young French forward will seek to surpass the mark set by the great names that came before him and etch his name in French football history as the most outstanding top scorer of all time.
