According to Sports Zone, the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund (PIF) is pursuing Senegalese center-back Kalidou Koulibaly to convince him to join this summer. The 31-year-old player, currently under contract with Chelsea, is reportedly open to discussions.
Chelsea has informed Koulibaly that he will be allowed to leave the club in the upcoming transfer window, as they plan a major restructuring under manager Mauricio Pochettino after their excessive signings last season.
This has generated interest from the PIF, who have approached the player with a specific proposal to join Al-Ittihad. However, Chelsea would also be willing to allow him to join another club if he wishes.
While talks are ongoing, no agreement has been reached between the parties yet. However, more clarity on the matter is expected towards the end of this week as negotiations continue to determine the transfer fee that Chelsea would demand for the player, who is under contract until 2026.
Koulibaly is attracted to the PIF's proposal and is seriously considering the possibility of joining the Saudi club. The prospect of following in the footsteps of renowned players in Saudi Arabia, such as Karim Benzema, is a factor that appeals to the Senegalese defender.
