The Portuguese coach is not happy with one of the players of his team.

This Thursday AS Roma made their debut in the UEFA Europa League 2023/24 and got an important 2-1 victory against FC Sheriff in Moldova. This gave them an ideal start and 3 points in the Group G standings, just like Slavia Prague, who beat Servette of Switzerland 2-0.

Gaby Kiki scored the opener for the Italian team in the last minute of the first half, after Leandro Paredes sent a cross, the ball bounced off him and into his own net. After the break, Cristian Tovar netted the equaliser, but moments later Romelu Lukaku gave AS Roma the lead again.

Despite the victory, it was not all good news. This is because during the first half Renato Sanches had to be replaced due to a physical problem. The Portuguese midfielder is a key piece of the team, but he has barely been able to play 3 games in the season, and in none of them he played all 90 minutes.

This situation caused the anger of coach José Mourinho, who did not hesitate to talk about it in the press conference: "He is always in doubt and it is difficult to understand why he is always injured. Bayern, PSG... and now we can't understand it either: he played 45 minutes on Sunday, rested three days and then got injured after 27 minutes."

He hasn't been able to settle

Renato Sanches is 26 years old. Throughout his professional career he has amazed fans with his talent and has aroused the interest of many important clubs in Europe. However, in none of them he was able to earn a place. In the 2015/16 season he had great performances in Benfica and that made Bayern Munich decide to sign him. But in Germany he played little and was loaned to Swansea and then to Lille. In 2022 he arrived at Paris Saint-Germain, where he was also unsuccessful. And his start at AS Roma is far from what was expected.
