If it’s not Mbappé, the fortune Real Madrid prepares for Lautaro Martinez

Florentino Pérez is looking for other options to improve the team’s attack.

After the departure of Karin Benzema to play for Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia, Real Madrid was left without its most important striker. The Frenchman had been with the Spanish team for more than a decade and had gained prominence since the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, becoming a key player in the Champions League 2021/22.

To replace Benzema, Florentino Perez's first idea was Kylian Mbappé, whom he has wanted for years. This summer, unlike previous times, the chance seemed close, as the striker announced that he will not continue at PSG once his contract expires in June 2024. However, Mbappé's intention would be to stay in France this year.

Given that scenario, Perez and Carlo Ancelotti are looking for other alternatives and are interested in Lautaro Martinez, as reported by Sport. The Argentine striker became world champion with his National Team in Qatar 2022 and shone at Inter during the last season, where he was the team's top scorer with 28 in 57 games. In addition, he played a leading role in the good performance of the Italian team in the Champions League, where they lost the final against Manchester City.

In Madrid they know that Inter will not let the Argentine go easily, that is why they are preparing an offer high enough to convince the Italians. According to reports from Europe, Florentino Perez could invest more than $100 million to sign Martinez.

The other options

If plan A, Kylian Mbappé, and plan B, Lautaro Martínez, do not prosper, Real Madrid has other strikers targeted. One of them is Harry Kane, although it seems complicated because he is already negotiating with Bayern Munich. The other one is Julian Alvarez.
