The Uruguayan striker would have preferred Los Blaugranas to sign him.

Luis Suarez is one of the best strikers in the world. Despite being 36 years old, having knee problems and nearing the end of his professional career, he continues to score goals and amaze fans with his talent. In fact, this year he has netted 29 goals and provided 18 assists in 54 games for Gremio of Brazil. And in 2024 he will be reunited with Lionel Messi at Inter Miami.

Together with the Argentine forward, they formed a fearsome attacking duo at Barcelona between 2014 and 2020. There they won several titles, including the 2015 Champions League with Luis Enrique as coach, and forged a friendship that endures to this day. They also won the affection of the club's fans, who still thank them for their goals.

Suarez also retains his love for the Catalan side and showed it this week, when he shocked everyone by revealing that he would have preferred a star to choose Barcelona over Real Madrid: Endrick. The Palmeiras forward was voted the best young player in the Brazilian league and will join Los Merengues next summer.

When asked about him, Suarez replied: "Obviously, I wanted Endrick at Barcelona, but he is the one who has to decide and enjoy soccer, and soccer will enjoy him". He then added: "He is a star. I think what he has achieved this year is incredible. Brazil, Real Madrid and soccer have a star for many more years."

What are they waiting for?

Real Madrid agreed to sign Endrick some time ago, when he was playing his first games at Palmeiras. The Spanish side will pay more than $75 million for him, but still can't add him to the squad. The reason is that FIFA rules prohibit international transfers of players under the age of 18, so Los Merengues will have to wait until his birthday, on July 21 next year.
