How coach José Mourinho could prevent Kylian Mbappé's arrival at Liverpool

The French striker wants to leave PSG next summer, and The Reds are interested in him.

For months now newspapers, TV shows and social media have been flooded with rumors and speculation about the future of Kylian Mbappé. This summer it seemed to be all set for Real Madrid to sign him, as he publicly announced that he had no desire to renew his contract with Paris Saint-Germain and owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi threatened to exclude him from the squad.

But Florentino Perez, president of the Spanish side, never initiated negotiations for him and finally 'Kiki' resolved his differences with Al-Khelaifi and stayed in France. Reports indicate that Los Merengues have decided to desist from signing him next summer, even if he becomes a free agent. But one thing has not changed: he continues to reject PSG's renewal offers.

With this scenario, other clubs are excited to have one of the best players in the world. Among them are Liverpool. The Reds have been interested in Kylian since 2017, when he was still playing for AS Monaco, and even coach Jurgen Klopp had talks with him. But the player eventually chose to go to PSG in exchange for $150 million.

In 2024 Liverpool could make a new attempt. This is because Mohamed Salah, their main star, was targeted by Al-Ittihad. The Saudi team already tried to take him during the last transfer window, but failed. However, it is rumored that they will try again next year. Or maybe not.

An unexpected problem arose

Last week, Nuno Espiritu Santo stepped down as Al-Ittihad's coach. Now the club is looking for a replacement and one of the candidates is Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese manager is working at AS Roma, but maybe they can convince him with a multi-million dollar offer. In that case, perhaps the hiring of Salah will be thwarted, as the Egyptian winger had a bad relationship with Mourinho at Chelsea. And, like a domino effect, if Salah does not leave Liverpool, perhaps The Reds will desist from signing Mbappé.
