Last Sunday Manchester City and Tottenham played one of the best games of the year in Premier League. Both teams needed to get a win to get closer to the top of the standings, so they put on a great show with 6 goals, several dangerous chances in the boxes and, above all, a lot of tension.
The last minutes were frantic, with changes in the scoreboard and unexpected goals. When Dejan Kulusevski netted to make it 3-3 with just a few minutes to go whistle, The Citizens rushed to try to score another goal. At that point, Erling Haaland received the ball near the halfway line and was brought down by an opposing defender, but quickly got up and delivered a great assist from Jack Grealish. However, referee Simon Hooper gave a free kick, preventing the English winger from continuing with the ball.
This caused the anger of the Manchester City players, especially Erling Haaland, who could not believe the referee's decision and for several seconds reproached him for what he had done. The gestures and shouts of the Norwegian striker caught the attention of everyone watching the match on TV and he was quickly the target of ridicule.
On social media, many users made jokes about Haaland's reaction and during the last days posted memes and jokes about him. Some were very creative, with references to The Simpsons, Real Housewives, Home Alone and even Edvard Munch's famous painting, 'The Scream'.
The 3-3 draw against Tottenham prevented Manchester City from closing in on leaders Arsenal. They are now in third place in the standings with 30 points, 3 less than the Gunners. But they will have revenge soon, as on Wednesday they will visit Aston Villa, another of the teams that have had a great start to the season.
