Didier Deschamps' team won, but not everything went well.

The French National Team are getting closer and closer to qualify for the Euro 2024 to be played in Germany between June and July next year. In their first 5 matches, they have won 5 games, scored 11 goals and conceded none. This allows them to be the undisputed leaders of group B with 15 points, 9 points ahead of Netherlands and Greece, who are second with 6.

This Thursday evening they played at the Parc des Princes in Paris against Ireland and did not disappoint the fans. As in the previous matches, they had a great performance and were superior to their opponents from the beginning to the end, which allowed them to stay with a 2-0 victory.

The opener came in the 19th minute, when Aurélien Tchuaméni took a rebound near the box and shot powerfully with his right foot to beat the resistance of goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu. And at the start of the second half France doubled the lead through Marcus Thuram, who took advantage of a play in which Kylian Mbappé could not finish comfortably and scored the second goal.

But the 2-0 victory was not enough to make everyone happy. In fact, many are worried. This is because after 26 minutes coach Didier Deschamps had to replace Olivier Giroud with Thuram. The AC Milan striker proved to be unhappy with the situation, as it could hinder his presence in the next match, which will be against Germany on Tuesday, September 12. In that case, Mbappé will lose one of his main attacking partners.

What happened?

After the match against Ireland coach Didier Deschamps gave a press conference and explained what happened to the AC Milan striker: “Giroud sprained his ankle, he felt too much pain to continue, unfortunately.”
