Farewell until March, this Premier League star will be off the field for a long time

The coach can't believe how unlucky he has been this season.

The coach can't believe how unlucky he has been this season.

Several Premier League teams have struggled this season with injuries to many important squad players. Arsenal, for example, paid a fortune this summer to sign Dutch defender Jurrien Timber, but on his Premier League debut he suffered a nasty knee injury that sidelined him for the rest of the year.

Something similar happened to Chelsea, who signed Christopher Nkunku in the hope that he would become the team's new star striker and still has not been able to play even a minute, due to a physical problem during a pre-season match. And at Manchester United they also encountered similar difficulties with Lisandro Martinez, Mason Mount, Raphael Varane and Christian Eriksen, although none of the severity of those other two cases.

Now that the Premier League is reaching the halfway point, every physical problem carries the risk of not being able to return in time for the decisive games of the season. And Chelsea are suffering from that. This week it was confirmed that Reece James has a hamstring injury that will keep him off the field for at least two months, which could be up to four according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The England right-back has barely made eight Premier League appearances this season and had only recently returned to the squad. But in the match against Everton last Sunday he was withdrawn during the first half and, after undergoing medical tests, the worst news was confirmed.

What will the coach do?

Mauricio Pochettino has a problem to solve. With the injury of Reece James, he lost his most important right-back. In addition, Malo Gusto, who had replaced him in several games this season, is also unavailable. Therefore, he will have to find solutions with players like Ian Maatsen and Levi Colwill, although none of them have the same virtues as James.
