The Portuguese coach put together a starting lineup with his favorite players.

José Mourinho is one of the most important coaches in the world. Throughout more than 20 years, he has proven to have great knowledge and intelligence to manage groups, choose players and plan strategies that help his teams achieve great results.

That is why in his career he has been hired by several of the most important clubs in Europe. His success with Porto, with whom he won the 2003/04 Champions League, led him to Chelsea. There he won two Premier League titles. He then had a very successful spell at Inter, where he won the Treble in the 2009/10 season. This allowed him to reach other clubs such as Real Madrid, Manchester United and Tottenham, until his present at AS Roma.

In an interview with the newspaper As, Mourinho chose the ideal team of players he managed during his coaching career. He surprised many by leaving out stars such as David De Gea, Sergio Ramos, Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Harry Kane and Romelu Lukaku.

The starting line-up chosen by the Portuguese manager was: Petr Cech as goalkeeper; center-backs John Terry and Ricardo Carvalho; Javier Zanetti as right-back and William Gallas as left-back. The holding midfielder is Claude Makelélé and alongside him are Frank Lampard and Mesut Ozil. Eden Hazard and Cristiano Ronaldo are the wingers and the center-forward is Didier Drogba.

Still at the top

At 60 years old, Jose Mourinho is still one of the most respected coaches in the world. He now manages AS Roma, with whom he won the 2021/22 Conference League and reached the final of the 2022/23 Europa League. In this new season he aims to improve on the performance of previous years and compete with the top teams in Italy and Europe for the Serie A, Coppa Italia and UEFA Europa League titles.
