The Blues will face the Gunners next Saturday at Stamford Bridge.

After October's international break, the players are returning to their respective clubs to resume training. The coaches will have just a couple of days to work with them before competing again in the leagues of each country, which will resume this weekend after almost 10 days off.

In England, there will be some very interesting matches. The ninth Premier League matchday will start on Saturday with the Liverpool derby, between The Reds and Everton at Anfield Road. And just a few hours later there will be another important match: Chelsea will face Arsenal at Stamford Bridge.

The Gunners are leaders of the standings along with Tottenham with 20 points and have not lost a game in this 2023/24 Premier League season. While The Blues had a bad start, but in the last few weeks they improved their performances, got two wins against Fulham and Burnley, and are slowly getting closer to the top of the standings.

However, coach Mauricio Pochettino has problems. He has lost many important players to injuries this season, some very serious like Christopher Nkunku. And now Reece James has joined that list. The right-back had suffered a hamstring injury in August and was sidelined for seven weeks. Then he was suspended for an argument with an official in the defeat against Aston Villa and now he was ready to return, but something unexpected happened.

What is the problem?

According to journalist Nathan Gissing, James suffered a new injury last week during a training session. He then underwent medical tests whose results were optimistic, but since then he has trained alone and is unlikely to be able to play this Saturday. This is bad news for Pochettino, as the English defender is one of the stars of the squad. If he does not recover in time, Malo Gusto will play in his place against Arsenal.
