The German side are the last Bundesliga champions and want to start the tournament well.

The start of the 2023/24 season has not been good for Bayern Munich. In their first match they lost 3-0 against RB Leipzig and could not win the German Super Cup title. Not even the addition of Harry Kane, the $100 million-plus star who arrived from Tottenham, was enough to improve the team and put up a fight.

But that is not the only problem they have, as this week they have been in the news for two conflicts. The first is related to the signing of David De Gea. The Spanish goalkeeper had been in talks with the club's chiefs for several days and had already instructed his agents to accept the offer, but at the last minute Bayern changed their mind and stopped the negotiations to try to sign Stefan Ortega from Manchester City.

The other, even more serious conflict was between Thomas Tuchel and Joshua Kimmich, one of the squad's stars. The coach believes the team needs another holding midfielder and said so publicly: "(Kimmich) brings a lot of quality to the team, but he doesn't yet have the DNA of a defensive midfielder. He likes to roam freely around the pitch and tries to help everywhere. He likes to be involved in all tasks."

According to reports, this did not please the player and caused conflicts in the squad. In addition, according to Sport, a private conversation of Tuchel's in which he said that Kimmich is "too slow" was revealed, which further deepened the midfielder's dissatisfaction.

Meanwhile, the tournament begins

With this scenario, this Friday afternoon Bayern Munich will play their first match for the Bundesliga 2023/24. It will be against Werder Bremen at the Weserstadion. There, Thomas Tuchel will look for his team to start the tournament in the best possible way, in which they will have to defend the title they won in the last 11 consecutive years. The coach knows that any other result will be considered a failure.
