During the two seasons Lionel Messi was part of Paris Saint-Germain and shared the team with Kylian Mbappé, speculations arose about possible tensions, egos, and jealousy from the French forward towards the Argentine. However, in the second season, this remarkable duo showcased their best version and made it clear that any supposed bad relationship was unfounded.
Lionel Messi's departure from PSG didn't happen on the best terms, as the Argentine star faced criticism from the Parisian press and club fans, who constantly booed him despite his good performances.
When asked about Messi's departure, Mbappé not only praised the captain of the recently crowned Argentine national team as world champions in Qatar but also made a revelation that could jeopardize his relationship with PSG fans.
"Messi? We are potentially talking about the best player in the history of football. It is never good news when someone like Messi leaves," Mbappé responded in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport.
However, the French forward made a harsh comment about the fans who booed Messi in some matches, especially after the Champions League elimination against Bayern Munich. "I don't understand why so many people were so happy that he left," Mbappé expressed. And he added, “He didn't receive the respect he deserved in France. It's a shame”.
