The Vinicius case continues, the accused have already testified and seek a twist in the case

This morning, the declaration of three Valencia fans as suspects took place at the Ciutat de la Justicia in Valencia. They are accused of allegedly uttering insults and making racist gestures towards Vinicius during the match against Real Madrid on May 21st at the Mestalla stadium. Two of the individuals attended the hearing, while the third requested a postponement.

Juana Blázquez, lawyer for one of the suspects, informed reporters outside the courthouse that her client admitted to the gestures but denies committing a hate crime. The attorney argued that the case should be treated as a supposed offense of "insult," as it is evident that the client was provoking the stadium and there was a specific moment when he confronted the fans.

Manuel Izquierdo, the lawyer for the accused who will testify on July 11th, stated after the hearing, "La Liga filed an expanded complaint last week, seeking to extend the events to what happened before at the Mestalla entrance. We believe that these three young men have been taken as scapegoats in an attempt to expand a cause against racism, which suits them very well."

The lawyer explained that the other two accused individuals "simply responded to the lawyers' questions in that context." The prosecution charges them with a hate crime, but they believe it has been taken out of context. It is an isolated issue, a football play taken out of context. They are three 18-year-old youths who recently turned 18.

The judge from the 10th investigative court in Valencia has also summoned Real Madrid player Vinicius to testify on June 27th as the victim of racist insults uttered by several fans located in the Grada de Animación of Mestalla on May 21st. The Brazilian player has the option to testify via video conference.
