In 2021 Manchester United paid $90 million to Borussia Dortmund for Jadon Sancho. The English winger had performed excellently in the Bundesliga and the Red Devils were confident he could do the same in the Premier League. However, things did not go as expected and the level he showed was far from expectations.
But that's not all. In September 2023 Jadon had a quarrel with Erik Ten Hag after the coach said during a press conference that he had decided not to call the player for a match vs Arsenal because of his performances during training. This infuriated Sancho, who immediately wrote a harsh message on social media insinuating that the Dutch manager was lying.
More than four months have passed since then and the winger has not played a game for Manchester United again. That's why the chiefs intend for him to go out on loan during this January transfer window. And, with this scenario, Borussia Dortmund are the favorites to sign him. The good memory that the player left there is key for this to become a reality.
However, he is not the only Premier League player who could go to the German side. According to The Sun, they are also interested in Ian Maatsen. The Dutch defender arrived last summer at Chelsea and during this season he played 15 games, although only 3 of them were in the starting lineup. That's why The Blues are not opposed to him leaving.
Ian Maatsen has a market value of $38 million. Borussia Dortmund are not willing to pay that amount, but they are interested in a loan until the end of the season. The problem is that Chelsea already have seven other players on loan, the maximum allowed by FIFA. However, Maatsen being U-21 could serve as an exception to that rule and allow him to be loaned to Germany.
