Guardiola was accused of mistreatment by Kalvin Phillips and this was his answer

Pep Guardiola is respected and admired by fans around the world thanks to his work at clubs like Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Manchester City. In all of them he was very successful, but especially in Spain and England. With the Citizens he is doing something similar. For years they have dominated the Premier League, having won most of the titles lately. But the biggest success came last season, when they won the Champions League, the Premier League and the FA Cup, completing the Treble for the first time in their history. That was thanks to the work of the Spanish manager, who found a way to get the best possible performance out of the team's stars.

However, not all the players in the squad were happy with Pep. A few weeks ago Kalvin Phillips agreed to leave Manchester City to join West Ham United with the aim of having more involvement in the team, something that did not happen during his year and a half with Guardiola. Once he arrived at his new club, he surprised everyone by revealing that he had a very difficult time during his time with the Citizens, largely because of Guardiola.

"After the World Cup was probably the toughest, when Pep came out and said I was overweight. He was right to do so, but there are different ways to go about it. I didn't disagree with him, but obviously I took a big knock on my confidence and how I felt at City. My family weren't happy about it, either, especially my mum," the midfielder revealed.

What did Pep say?

This week Josep Guardiola was asked during a press conference about this conflict and the words of Kalvin Phillips, but his answer was absolutely honest: "Yeah, I'm sorry. Once in eight years is not bad. But I'm so sorry. I apologise to him. I do apologise. I'm so sorry. A reporter then asked him if he had had a chance to speak to Kalvin personally since then and he clarified: "Yeah, before our game, I spoke to him. I never, never before said something here without speaking with the players in that case."
