Xavi told the truth.

At the moment Xavi Hernandez is one of the most criticized people at FC Barcelona. The bad results and poor performances they have had during the 2023/24 season have made the press question harshly the decisions of the coach, whom they hold responsible for the failures of the team. He has acknowledged in more than one press conference that he is not satisfied with what has happened in recent months and that is the main reason why he decided that he will leave after the end of this season.

But the current problems do not make fans forget Xavi's glorious past. He was one of the club's most important players and for almost two decades he shone at Camp Nou surrounded by other top stars such as Andres Iniesta, Ronaldinho, Carles Puyol, Lionel Messi and Neymar Junior. That is why he will always be remembered with admiration and respect, no matter what happens to his coaching career.

And he has the same feeling of gratitude to the club. He has always expressed his unconditional love for Barcelona and shows it every chance he gets. A few days ago, during a press conference, he revealed details of a little-known story that happened during his early years as a professional player.

"I have always prioritized Barça. I have always wanted to be at Barça. I put money out of my pocket to train here. At 18, I didn't listen to Milan's offer... it's not an effort," he explained. This is surprising, considering that this happened in the late 1990s, when AC Milan were one of the most important clubs in the world and Barcelona were still far from the success they would later have with Pep Guardiola.

Xavi Hernandez then explained why he made the decision to leave at the end of this season, related to his love for Barcelona: "I feel that way. And that's why I'm leaving: I prioritize the club ahead of myself. I told the president that the last year was non-negotiable and to give it to the next coach."
