He wants to win more trophies.

Lionel Messi has been a soccer star for almost two decades. Millions of fans around the world admire and respect him, and have been following him for years with every team he plays for. His talent has been essential to his success, but also his winning mentality, hard work and resilience. Those virtues have allowed him to reach the age of 36 in full physical and athletic health, and it seems he still has much more to give.

He arrived this summer at Inter Miami to begin a new stage in his professional career. While it is true that part of his decision was related to getting away from the constant pressure of European soccer, he did not come to the United States to relax and rest, but to compete. And that was demonstrated in his first few weeks with The Herons, when he led the team to the Leagues Cup title.

Leo knows that the demands in 2024 will be even greater. It will no longer be enough to entertain the fans and show a bit of his magic, he will now be required to deliver results. The first goal will be Major League Soccer. In 2023 Inter Miami did not even manage to qualify for the Eastern Conference playoffs, but now all the team's stars will be there from the start of the season and things will be different.

They will also defend the Leagues Cup title. And for the first time they will participate in the CONCACAF Champions League, the most important tournament in North and Central America. Should they be champions there, that will allow them to play in other tournaments such as the Interamerican Cup and the Intercontinental Cup.

That's not all

Lionel Messi will not only try to be champion with Inter Miami, but also with the Argentine National Team. In June the Copa America will start in the United States and there Lionel Scaloni's team will defend the title they won in Brazil 2021. And just a few days after that tournament, the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will begin. In case of winning their place, Argentina will be able to take three players over 23 years old, so Leo could repeat the gold medal of Beijing 2008.
